Study evaluates mechanisms of lung injury by ozone

HEI has published Research Report 204, Novel Mechanisms of Ozone-Induced Pulmonary Inflammation and Resolution, and the Potential Protective Role of Scavenger Receptor BI, presenting a study led by Dr. Kymberly Gowdy of East Carolina University (now at Ohio State University).

Research Report 204 presents a study led by Dr. Kymberly Gowdy of East Carolina University (now at Ohio State University) and colleagues in which they evaluated how acute exposure of mice to ozone affects initiation and resolution of the inflammatory response in the lung.

Second part of major ozone study published

HEI has published the Multicenter Ozone Study in oldEr Subjects (MOSES): Part 2. Effects of Personal and Ambient Concentrations of Ozone and Other Pollutants on Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Function. This second part of Research Report 192 was led by Drs. David Rich and Mark Frampton of the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York.
