The 2018 Annual Report, Promoting Dialogue, Building Trust, describes how HEI provides a balanced forum where diverse stakeholders find common ground to discuss HEI’s high quality, impartial, and relevant science informing public policy on air quality and public health. The report highlights HEI’s latest achievements and initiatives.

HEI requests applications for Accountability research and New Investigator Award

HEI has issued two requests for applications: RFA 18-1: Assessing Health Effects of Air Quality Actions at the National, Regional, and Local Levels solicits the next round of accountability studies to evaluate the effectiveness of measures to improve air quality in improving public health. RFA 18-2: Walter Rosenblith New Investigator Award solicits proposals from applicants at the Assistant Professor level for research on air pollution and health. Please refer to our Funding page for details. 

Student and Postdoc Travel Award - 2019 Annual Conference

November 29, 2018

HEI is inviting applications for a Travel Award for its 2019 Annual Conference. Up to three award winners will be invited to present posters on their research at HEI’s conference held May 5-7, 2019 in Seattle, Washington. Travel awards will be awarded on a competitive basis, upon review of the application and proposed abstract. The award covers the costs of conference registration, travel, hotel, and meals. The submission deadline is February 5, 2019.

Two important new HEI studies underway

HEI has funded two new studies under a general request for applications (RFA 17-2) on the health effects of air pollution. Dr. Amir Hakami and colleagues will perform a health impact assessment of decreased emissions of  various pollutants. Dr. Roel Vermeulen and colleagues will conduct a large cohort study investigating long-term air pollution and cause-specific mortality in Asia.
