Elizabeth Scheehle

Elizabeth Scheehle is California Air Resources Board’s Research Division Chief where she oversees planning and coordinating the agency’s wide-ranging air quality and climate research. In this role, she incorporates racial equity into CARB research processes and uses a racial equity lens on research concept development. She directs a team of over 70 multidisciplinary scientists and engineers to develop and implement research plans and studies to provide a robust scientific foundation for CARB’s air quality and climate policy decisions. Scheehle previously managed CARB's Oil and Gas and GHG Mitigation Branch. Prior to that, she managed the Climate Change Program Development Section, which focuses on allowance allocation under California's cap-and-trade program. She also previously managed the Greenhouse Gas Technology and Field Studies section, which covers a range of research topics including climate change mitigation strategies and field studies to characterize community exposures and verify and validate emission estimates. As staff, she was lead on carbon capture and sequestration and managed several High GWP initiatives.
