Panel publishes protocol for a review on health effects of air pollution in East Africa

2024

As public and governmental interest on air pollution grows, there is a greater demand for data and evidence on air pollution levels as well as their health effects across East Africa. To synthesize the available literature on health effects of air pollution in East Africa, HEI is conducting a scoping review with an expert panel.

The panel has issued the review protocol describing the objectives for the review, search strategy and inclusion and exclusion criteria. The protocol focuses on the general population in eight East African countries, their exposure to criteria air pollutants and includes a broad range of health outcomes. HEI expects to publish findings in September 2024.
